Everything worked find after I updated WordPress; it was the update of Custom Community that caused all of the problems. I have no plug-ins, and checked all of the templates settings and I manually reinstalled the template – still having issues with error messages appearing on pages and the jQuery slider not working on the home page.

-try switching to the default theme (“twentyten”) for a moment by renaming your current theme’s folder in wp-content/themes. The idea is to force WordPress to fall back to the default theme to rule out any theme-specific issue.

I tried that as well, but now can no longer log into my site. This update has just gone downhill as I’ve progressed trying to repair it’s initial damage.

What, exactly, did you try? How did you do it?

When the problems first cropped up I switched to the twenty ten theme; deleted the custom community theme, reinstalled the custom community theme and then activated that.
Sometime yesterday I lost the ability to login as well and now just get a blank page that goes nowhere. http://stpaulindustrial.com/wp-login.php?
You need to access your site via FTP, and rename or delete the “custom-community” Theme folder, here:
<wordpress-root-directory>\wp-content\themes\custom-community
This will cause WordPress to revert to the TwentyTen Theme, and should restore your access to your site.
By the way: the Custom Community Theme is a BuddyPress Theme. Do you have BuddyPress installed, active, and working properly on your site?

I’ve gone in via FTP and done what you suggested, which allowed me to get back to logging into my site. Thank you.
After reinstalling Custom Community the slide show is still not working, and I do believe that BuddyPress is installed & working properly – it was before.

have you discussed the issue with your hosting provider?

I’ve uninstalled & reinstalled buddypress as well now. It really appears as though the theme template isn’t working properly. I guess I’ll need to chose a different theme or revert to the previous release.

Glad the issue is resolved. 🙂
