custom cart items order

    Hi

    currently the order in which items are displayed in the cart is the order in which the customer added them to the cart. I need to be able to customize that order.

    I sell mixed vegetables boxes (like a CSA) and I need to sort my products by weight so that the heavier ones don’t crush the more fragile ones when I put them in the box that i deliver. I did assign to each product a number that reflects their weight, and I display them in that order in the shop page, but then each customer cart list is different because they don’t necessarily add items to the cart in the same order they see them displayed.

    Can anyone suggest a solution? it will dramatically increase my packing speed and efficiency if all carts list items the way I need.

    Hi there,

    I’m not aware of any off-the-shelf solutions that allow for picking lists (or order confirmation emails) to be ordered according to product weights. If this is a must-have, the only thing I can think of would be to have that custom developed for you by a web developer or one of the experts listed at https://woocommerce.com/customizations/

    The *closest* off-the-shelf solution that I can find is https://woocommerce.com/products/print-invoices-packing-lists/ which allows for packing lists to be ordered by category – Perhaps you could add categories like “Heavy, Medium, Light” to your respective products and then print packing lists according to those categories?
