    Hi,

For the past few days I’ve been seeing a hit on a web page that WF says originates in Atlanta, Georgia. When I check my Google Analytics logs, however, the same page hit at the same time is reported as coming from Narragansett, Rhode Island.

Does anyone know why there would be such a discrepancy?

The IP that WF reports does jibe with Atlanta, and Google Analytics doesn’t report IP’s for privacy reasons (hahahaha), so I can’t see what’s happening there, but it’s consistent. And also very weird.

    Thanks in advance.

    Hi,

I’m speculating here but Google could be using an outdated database to determine the location based on the IP. Is that the only discrepancy you are seeing?

    Hi Brian,

For the most part I can match up human users reported by WF and unique visitors reported by GA. It’s not always 1:1, but generally I can see pages being accessed in each report from the same general locations.

The one where WF shows a hit from Georgia and Google shows a hit from RI has been consistent but is also the wildest mismatch. Not a big deal, obviously, but certainly curious.

    (Thanks for the reply.)
