when I use firebug to make sure it’s supposed to do what I want it shows me that it does.

#page, #blog, #contact, #portfolio .single-portfolio, #gallery .single-gallery {text-align: right;}

when I put it into the child theme css and refresh….nothing happens….

Clear your browser’s cache too.

If you’re not changing any CSS then nothing will change.

Tried that, not working.

take a look. The text is not aligning right because the css rule is not even applied when you check with firebug. something with the child theme is not correct. I just don’t know what….

Looks like that’s a commercial theme –

http://themeforest.net/user/Bebel

So you’ll need to ask the developer for help. It’s possible that theme won’t work as a child theme – not all themes will.
