I’ve been having a problem with automatic plugin updates, so decided to install a cron manager plugin to see if I could spot what was going on. In the list of scheduled events was ‘hdq_addon_styler_check_for_updates’ – but this appeared hundreds of times in the list! Is this a problem with the Styler plugin?

    Hi Patrick,
that cron is for the Styler addon – all it does is periodically check to see if there is an update available for it and 100% would have zero effect on being able to auto-update regular plugins installed from the WordPress repository (such as the main HD Quiz plugin).

However, with that said, that cron is only supposed to be listed once so please feel free to delete them all – it’s completely safe to do so. I’ll look into my implementation of this cron to see if I overlooked how it was possible for you to have multiple instances of it, but this might end up being a symptom of whatever is not allowing auto plugin updates on your site. I’ll let you know if I uncover anything.
