Hi, I have just installed the the events calendar plugin and I cannot get the main events page to work.
i have gone through the trouble shooting options: refresh permalinks, adding the code to the functions.php, refresh permalinks, I have also played with the url itself.
the curious thing is that the event/scoliosis-workshop-for-movement-professionals – test event works fine. but the main calendar page is creating the error.
I imagine that i have missed something really basic – I am quite a wordpress newbie, so would appreciate any help.

The page I need help with: [log in to see the link]

  • Hey @ruthbarry

    Thank you for reaching out.
Yikes! Sorry about the critical error.

Normally, going through the following guides should result in a working calendar: https://theeventscalendar.com/knowledgebase/guide/the-events-calendar/

There shouldn’t be a need for functions.php changes.

With that in mind, there are a couple of caveats:

    1. Make sure you don’t have an actual page that uses the /events slug. Our calendar doesn’t need or use an actual page, but it needs to have exclusivity of that URL.
    2. Make sure there are no other competing Events plugins installed
    3. Make sure the Events template is selected under Events > Settings > Display

Let us know how that goes,
    Geoff
