Hi, you should not give any login credentials to anyone on here.
But we will guide you how you can solve your problem. Please activate the wordpress debug mode and post any error message on your page or in the /wp-content/debug.log file
Debugging in WordPress
Obviously what I had written was either not clear enough or has been misunderstood. Because of my health condition I do not have the capacity to carry out the tasks no matter how good you instructions… neither the mental capacity or the dexterity to use the keyboard at the moment. I am sorry that I was not clear enough with the information I gave.
Perhaps you can point me at an organisation where freelancers can do repair work: I have zero confidence in my own abilities and can barely work at a screen for more than 15-20 minutes before I have vision problems.
Thank you for taking the time to reply and sorry that I have made this misunderstanding. If I have to I will simply abandon the project.
Please try https://jobs.wordpress.net/ or https://jetpack.pro/ and do not accept any hire offers posted to these forums since it is against the Forum Rules.
I cannot deny that I am very disappointed with my experience today – you have a good guide on expectations – obviously my expectations were wildy out of line:
Wordpress jobs: You need to know what you are talking about before writing a job spec – I don’t know how to write what I want.
Jetpack Pro: How is this anything close to what I am looking for – someone willing to go in and do the trouble shooting and fixing for me – jetpackpro is a product and bears no relevance to my support query.
Are you a moderator Benni? Is there anyone in charge of wordpress.org that I can offer some suggstions to?
Thank you.

Moderators are forum janitors — while we can and do offer help, it’s not our primary function. We’re here to keep the forums running, keep things tidy, and support members of the community who volunteer their time and knowledge. So, I certainly see the situation you’re in. When you say ” do the trouble shooting and fixing for me”, that’s not what moderators do, nor is it what Benni does. But he did give you links to two places where we think you can hire capapable and competent people to do WP-related work for you.
I have enough expeience to understand what a moderator is: my misunderstanding was that members might look at another members problem, offer a solution or (mistakenly by me|) offer to help- but I gather from your response that is not allowed in he forums. As to the “offer of two places that might help – perhaps you are misunderstanding as well:
Wordpress jobs: a place where (it seems to me) employers are offering positions – people come and apply) – my understanding is that I would need to write a job spec (no idea how or what as I had eplained)
Jetpack Pro: How is this anything close to what I am looking for – a variety of products addressing specific needs. A product cant help me. I think you understand.
Abandonment is the solution methinks! Thank you all in any case.
Perhaps one of the moderation team, or any other member, could suggest another group or forum where I can ask for “hands-on” help either as a one off job or as a freebie help.

“members might look at another members problem, offer a solution or (mistakenly by me|) offer to help” EXACTLY! So, if someone has a solution for you they can offer it, BUT they cannot ask to login to your site, nor ask for money, nor may you offer a login or money here. Our rule is “look but don’t touch”.
Hmmm so even if someone is willing and able they cant offer and I cant ask or accept.
As I said – project abandonment is my only option then – sadly an unsuccessful day all around.
Goodnight.
