• Hi there,

I have a website that is coming up with a critical error and I can’t log on. I have tried disabling the plugins and the theme and have manually updated wordpress but it is still not working. I have since found the following error but I am unsure how I should fix this – can anyone help? Fairly new to all this and still learning!

PHP Fatal error: Uncaught Error: Call to undefined function wp_unregister_GLOBALS() in /home/domains/vol2/039/3255039/user/htdocs/wp-settings.php:61

    Many thanks

Yep, everytime I just download a new one. Should I try it again just in case?

I’ve asked the folks in the back room to take a look at this. Clearly, I’m missing something here.

The wp_unregister_GLOBALS function was deprecated (removed) in WordPress 5.5.

So, yeah, basically Steve was correct. Something is wrong with the files on your site, or how you are updating them, or something else about what you are doing.

The WordPress files need to be on your site, they need to be complete and correct, and the error messages indicate that this is not the case.

So, you need to work out what it is that you are doing which is incorrect. Something about how you’re putting the files on your site is wrong. We cannot know what, because we cannot know what exactly you are doing until you describe it in a lot of detail.
