I used Duplicator to move my site from my localhost environment to a development environment and it worked like a charm. No issues and all was good.

Now I am trying to move the site to the live domain and Duplicator keeps stopping at the “Creating Package” point. Unfortunately, the log doesn’t give any clues as to what might be stopping the package from being created.

I’ve read some of the topics and have a call in with the host service (it’s a third party and I don’t have access to them directly) to see if it is a process timeout issue.

Any ideas or suggestions? I was trying to get this site live soon.

    Thanks,
    Sean

  • Hey 10908 Digital,

Thanks for the feedback! If you can give the developer version a try it may have your fixes for the issue your seeing. The very latest version (0.5.0) can be found by following these instructions:

    -> Browse to http://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/duplicator/developers/
-> Look for the section “Other Versions”
-> Click on “Development Version” and download the zip plugin file
-> Uninstall your current version and install this one
-> Note: This is a development line version so please test in your sandbox first to make sure you have no issues…

Let me know if this solves your issue…

    Thanks

Holy Sweet Jesus! I love the new version.

Size of this site was causing a time-out error, even in the new version. But this version let me know what was going on. Once I took out the uploads and a backup files that didn’t need to be there, it worked. (as far as making the package). I’m not quite ready to upload to the new location just yet, but will let you know.

That is good to hear! Thanks for the update…

So uploaded the package to the new site and everything worked save the media files which I had to manually move to the new site. That was unpleasant, since there are over 300 media files on this site. 🙁

However, getting the feedback from the plugin of what was stalling it out made it so much more pleasant and easy to use. Actually loading the site up took a matter of minutes, and then visiting each page to update the links to the media files wasn’t horrible, just a little time consuming.

Thank you for taking the time to write this plugin. It’s great!

No Problem… Be sure to upgrade to 0.5.1 as there was a small bug in the installer update routine which may have not updated all your links in your posts and pages…

    Cheers~
