Creating new permalink structure

If I change my permalink structure. Will my hotlinked (old) URLs will work too? As if people have bookmarked and my links or submitted in different listings.

Like myurl.com/2009/01/01/my-post to myurl.com/my-post

Is there any mechanism which take care of it?

I want to change my permalink also want old ones working.

please help
