Creating customer, static front-Page..

You know how the default WordPress installation is such that your main root, landing page just shows the most recent “Posts” or “Pages”?

How can I construct my WordPress blog to just have a main landing page where a static “Page” that I create in my WordPress blog is sort of the “Home” page or “landing page”, or “start page” or what have you?
