Set up wildcard subdomans on your host. If you;re on shared they have to have added it for you.
Add a DNS record for *.yourdoamin.com.
Set up multisite.
Visit Network admin -> sites-> add new.
That’s it.
Thanks for answer Andrea!
I have multisite already set up to use subdirectories instead of subdomains. What do you suggest me to do?
Can I just follow your instructions anyway or do i need to make a complete new install?
The way you have it set up, then you’d use subFOLDERS.
If you want subdomains, the first thing you need to do is ask your host if they support wildcard subdomains. because if they do not there’s no point in switching.
Yes my host actually support wildcard subdomains. I am trying to figure out how to switch between both options.
ok now I need to get help with something more serious actually: I moved all my wp files from subdir. folder to root public html folder, in order to get my blog as my primary domain. Now when I go to “domain.com” instaed of “domain.com/something” , i can find my wp blog. But then when i want to log in to admin page I can’t anymore. Does anyone know what I need to do pls??
Is this a new install? Might be easier to blow it away and start over.
I think you’re right, I take that option and will start everything back from scratch. Thanks for your answers!
