Thanks.
I have tried to read and understand that but I am afraid I could not relate to it at all.
I was trying to use WordPress on my home computer before on host as I am new to it and I have some ubderstanding of CSS as I used Dreamweaver but cannot afford for myself now and it was time comsuming. I don’t know anything about PHP or databases.
I do not understand what database I upload.
Okay I can make up name for it.
But in this version of Mamp things are not configured for me and I have to upload an actual datanase and I need to understand what databse this actually is. I have put wordpress in htdocs which is what I did last time but last time Word press configured a the file with MAMP and it really was easy. But then there were upgrades which seem to have detached wordpress from MAMP and I was upset and spent ages trying to work out and eventually gave up and so tried to reload MAMP and WordPress and I do not understand what to do.
.
are you trying to move a wordpress installation from your loacl machine to a webserver?
If so, you need to create a new database and upload your tables.
Usually you can do this in the hosting backend…

No, I am trying to use WP on local host. I am not trying ro use wordpress on a hosting server but on my own computer.
I recently managaged to install MAMP with wordpress on my computer and it was working till I installed the ugrades. Suddenly I found that I could not access WordPress. MAMP appeeared to be working but no WordPress. I did not know what to do about this could not understand it so in desperation uninstalled everything and reinstalled.
MAMP said it had installed successfully.I put WordPress in htdocs like I had done last time but there was not automatic configiration like there had been last time and i was hoping I would somehow work it out.
In SQlit manager in create databse I typed “wordpress” like I done before but this time i was required to upload stabase (to SQmanagar to the local server ) but not know where to got for it and I was hoping that someone could tell me.
well, if you reinstalled MAMP you should be able to just start from scratch

is that what you are after?

I did reinstall MAMP only this time I could not connect it up with WordPress and it looks to me as if this might be something to do with the fact that I have to go into SQLite manager and when asked to creats a database it is not enough to type “WORDPRESS but I have to upload – give the directory path to an acual database and I wwas very much hoping that someone might be able to help me with this. But it looks like I have to give up.
