Create a URL?

    Hi There,

    I’m just starting to use this plugin. I was wondering how I could create a URL to give people to download the file, that would also count the download. If i just give them the file URL, it doesn’t seem to go through SDM and doesn’t get counted.

    Thanks for this. I am looking through the documentation, but could not find an answer to my above question. If I wanted to send people an URL to DL the file, how would I do so in order for it to be counted by the system?

    Hi Eva, are you talking about sending an e-mail with the download URL?

    Yes, I would like to be able to send a link to the download (say, in an email to someone) that would be trackable when they went to download. I’m not sure how to do that with the plugin, but imagine there must be a way, in addition to adding a DL button to the site.

    You know the download button it creates when you use the shortcode? You can right click on the download button and copy the link. That link can be used to download the item and it will go via this plugin.

    This link should look like the following (1234 is the ID of the download):

    http://www.your-site.com/?smd_process_download=1&download_id=1234

    Thanks!

    I actually tried this first, before I messaged you. It doesn’t seem to work. Even with the correct ID of the download it says, “Error! Incorrect download item id.”

    Any idea why this doesn’t actually work? And any other idea for passing along a trackable URL for the download?

    (@eva_at_pushcart), if you receive the following error “Error! Incorrect download item id.” can you double check that the items ID is correct. Do you have a cache plugin installed?
