When this or any code is added to the basket page on my site it makes the basket portion of the page disappear. However, when the page is refreshed the basket reappears. Please help!

The issue you are experiencing might be theme-specific or due to conflicts with other third-party plugins.
Can you check the same using the Storefront theme? Also to check whether the issue is due to conflicts with other third-party plugins, you may deactivate all plugins except Smart Coupons and WooCommerce plugins and then activate the rest of the plugins one by one. Let us know how it goes.

Thanks for your reply and advice. However, I have already tried deactivating all plugins, and trying the storefront theme and in both cases the basket still disappears.
Thank you for the help, I have however now removed the coupon section from the checkout and I now have it on the checkout page, and it works ok now
