Country specific permalinks

Hi there,
I seem to be going round in circles looking for what is probably a simple solution! The site I am working on needs to have country specific pages, ones that are not google translated. I want to create duplicate pages so there will be for example:

http://www.mywebsite.com/about us
http://www.mywebsite.com/fr/about us

Needless to say the /fr/ would be the page in French. Do you have advice on if this is the best way to do this or should I be going down a different route? One of the obstacles I think I’ll have is that the Sydney theme only supports one menu so if I was on http://www.mywebsite/fr/about us the main menu would still be in English.
