I installed the Sucuri security plug in on our WordPress site and it says that core WordPress files were modified on our site, but when I select the option to restore the files, it does not process the files. I then tried installing WordFence, but it didn’t find any problems. The modification date on one file listed predates the construction of our website. No other malware or other issues were listed. Please advise how to restore the files, or why the plug-in is not working correctly.

  • What’s the name of the file that is being flagged?

If you pass your mouse over the information icon beside the green “Submit” button, you will see a box with information explaining the meaning of each flag in the table.

Green flags mean that the file is not part of a normal WordPress installation and should be deleted at your own discretion.

The restoration action can only be applied to files that are part of a normal WordPress installation but appear to be modified. The plugin will download a fresh copy of the code from WordPress’ website and replace the one that you have in your server. But in this case, this action cannot be used because the files that are being listed haven’t been modified, they have been added.

Feel free to delete them or mark them as fixed if you don’t want to see the warnings again.
