Core Update & 500 Internal Server Error

    I did wordpress core update from the wp-admin and suddenly the site is 500 for both front end as well as admin section of the website. I tried accessing .htaccess file but its not there at root directory (where wp-content folder is available), I created php.ini file (with memory-64Mb) but its not working.

    Ajit,

    The site was up and running since Dec’14(unlike in the link you just shared). I just logged-in to change a few images and noticed core update. I did it and site was dead 🙁 I tried looking up for .htaccess but couldn’t find any.
    Do you think I should create one .htaccess file and upload to the root?

    Hi Nilesh,
    1. Check your WordPress files for permissions above 755.
    2. Check your WordPress .htaccess file. One of the rules may be incorrect..

    Oops what a weird problem it is!

    I just created and uploaded a blank .htaccess file and tried accessing the website and now its taking me to /wp-admin/setup-config.php

    what do you think I should do..? need to create and update new db details..? the last time installation was done using oneclick install program by the hosting..how do I get the details of previous database..?

    I deleted all the previous files and uploaded the fresh wp files and its working fine now.
