To find out if they are part of the latest core files, download a fresh copy of the latest WordPress to your desktop and check if you see similar files in its wp-admin folder.
Any files like that named core.00000 (as in your example, the ending is all numbes) are core dump files that are created when your server has “issues” and needs to quit something. It dumps the memory to a file for debugging later on.
If you find these appearing in your stie a lot you should alert your hosting company and ask them to investigate as these normally mean that there’s some problem with the server.
Catacaustic, thanks I thought that’s was what those files where. Funny I called the hosting company and they said they had no clue what they where…SHEESH! I give up, all these hosting companies are idiots.
