    Hey all!

A quick question before I install Coppermine… Coppermine will use a MySQL database to store the pictures. I have 1 database from my host, but I can have more if I pay for it.

Can Coppermine and WordPress use the same database or will this screw things up for WordPress (already installed)?

Yes, they can use the same database.

So long as the ‘table_prefix’ for an application is different to that of all other apps using the database, the only limitation (for most sites) is any db size limits imposed by the host.

Wow! Fast answers! I love that! Thanks a lot!

Trying to foresee the future.. I’ve never used Coppermine, or Exhibit, or any other software for online galleries. In the event that I wouldn’t like Coppermine, and remove it from my website, will my database be either screwed or filled with unused data? I don’t know SQL or MySQL, and I never managed databases before.

I currently use Coppermine as my gallery on my website and it’s cool. The first thing you should do is grab phpMyAdmin which is a wondeful tool to manage your databases. It allows you to use a nice GUI.

If you ever feel the need to remove Coppermine then you just need to remove all the database entires prefixed by ‘cpg_’ or whatever you chose for Coppermine.

    Regards
