Content styling for twentyten theme

In the twentyten theme I’ve set the background color in Appearance but the Firefox CSS call out tool has not pointed me to the right css style to:
    – style the background color for the plugin sidebar
    – style the content area background color

Adding a background-color to the body or wrapper tags doesn’t change anything. Can’t find anything in the stylesheet that refers to the plugin area box.

And how will I handle future version upgrades once I’ve made these changes?

    Thanks

Don’t edit the Twenty Ten theme. Your changes will be over-written the next time you upgrade WordPress. For this reason, it is recommended that you consider creating a child theme for your customisations. Once your child theme is active, we should be able to help with the customisation.
