There is no “WP core files” and WP “blog files”. ALL the WP files (and its subfolders) have to be in the same folder. After 11 months of using WP you should know better…
You can install WP in a folder named ” wordpress” (or whatever… “schulerlab”) and show the content at the root (example.com) but that’s the more complicated way.
Why not install WP in the root, set a Page as frontpage and another Page (called “Blog”) as your posts page and you have exactly what you want.
I installed WP for a friend 11 months ago.. and she never used it. so, i upgraded it.
I’ve never used it. so, I’m not familiar with it.
I saw in the options that you can specify a different folder for the blog, but when i do that, I get errors.
the reason I don’t want to install WordPress at the root is because wordpress is one of several packages installed on the site. I have a gallery2, and a forum installed. It is cleaner to keep the different packages in separate folders. for one thing, if you install everything at the root, and one page has a subfolder with the same/similar name.. it gets real confusing trying to maintain a website.
