This sounds like your site is unable to send emails using the web server or your emails are being blocked by spam filters.

To solve this I would suggest setting up an account at one of the three dedicated SMTP providers I’ve listed below. All have free accounts available so it won’t cost a dime and typically can be setup in a matter of minutes. Each service has a plugin available on WordPress.org which you can install to setup even quicker or you can use the generic WP Mail SMTP plugin and enter your credentials.
