    Hi
I noticed today that the Contact Form 7 form in my website’s footer is not rendering and only showing the shortcode. When I checked the list of CF7 forms on my site I noticed that all the shortcodes had changed (eg, originally the shortcode in question was [contact-form-7 id=”788” title=”General Contact Form”] and it had changed to [contact-form-7 id=”80493ce” title=”General Contact Form”]). However, entering the new code in the footer widget made no difference – it still displayed the shortcode. I have tried purging the cache and viewing in Incognito mode but this has made no difference. I am running the latest version of CF7 – 6.1.5. Can you please advise?
    Regards

Do you have any other pages where Contact Form 7’s forms work?

    Hi

Yes. This page has a different CF7 contact form on: https://sandyhillarts.co.uk/volunteering-sandy-hill-arts/ As you can see it renders fine and it seems to submit without issue too (Success message received at least). One thing I have noticed with this though is that the shortcode entered on the page ([contact-form-7 id=”1523″ title=”Volunteer Enquiry form”]) differs to the actual shortcode showing in the CF7 panel ([contact-form-7 id=”4a0bb78″ title=”Volunteer at SHA – Enquiry Form”]). I think the former is the original shortcode before they changed (see my original message). It still appears to render even though the id references are different.
I have placed the same shortcode as used in the footer on a page (https://sandyhillarts.co.uk/form-test/) and it renders fine. So it seems that the issue may be confined to the shortcode in the footer.

Seemingly, you’ve fixed the issue. What was the cause?

I had originally placed the shortcode in the ‘Custom HTML’ widget. I instead placed it in the ‘Text’ widget and it worked. My theme support team suggested it may be related to recent changes in how WordPress handles widgets and Blocks (I disable Gutenburg and do not use Blocks). Because it was working until recently this seems to make sense but why specifically I do not know.
