Trying to set up postie and I am unable to connect to my mail server.

First I was using gmail and then found out that gmail doesn’t work with goDaddy so I created an email account with my goDaddy account from cPanel.

Connection: Tried both Sockets and Curl
    Mail Protocol: POP3 and POP3-SSL
Port: 110 and 995 (for ssl)

Verified mail protocol and port from email setup center.

    Mail Server: pop.secureserver.net
Username & Password: My login credentials (tested on my phone, browser, and some sketchy random ping website)

Error Message (socket): Unable to connect to pop.secureserver.net:100 ….. Connection timed out
Error Message (ssl & socket): Connection Refused.
Error Message (cURL): Unable to write Data.

Any and all help will be really appreciated.

Sounds like you need to get GoDaddy involved. Since you can connect from other machines it seems apparent that GoDaddy is blocking the connection on that server. Make sure they understand you are trying to make outbound connections from your website on ports 110 and 995.

Thanks for your help. i tried out the plugin on a site not hosted on Godaddy and it worked perfectly.

Now I’ve been chatting with their “tech support” for over an hour and they’ve been repeating the same ridiculous message to me.

Anyway, guess it’s time to find a new hosting provider.

    Got any suggestions? lol

There are a couple of reviews regarding best companies for hosting wordpress sites. I will say that most of the challenges come from BlueHost and GoDaddy.
