I just wanted to add some social media buttons to my site, but I have no idea what this is. I can’t customise which buttons appear, and which URLs they link to! (Well, maybe I can if I spend a couple of days ploughing through all manner of APIs and such on their website and take a masters in programming). Uninstalled.

    Hi Paul.

It sounds like our follow buttons plugin might be more along the lines of what you were looking for.

    https://wordpress.org/plugins/addthis-follow/

That follow buttons plugin gives you a widget you can configure for your sidebar that’ll give social icons and link them to your profile on different sites, so that your visitors can follow you on Twitter or Instagram or see your LinkedIn profile (just to name a few).

This sharing buttons plugin will add buttons above or below your posts that makes it easy for your visitors to share the URL for that post into their personal social feeds, like tweeting about an article to their own followers, or posting an article on Facebook for their friends to see. After enabling sharing buttons for a location (like above posts), you can choose “select your own” under services and hand pick the sharing buttons you want displayed, though we don’t recommend that for most people. If you leave it on auto-personalization, AddThis will automatically pick services personalized for each user based on what we’ve seen them use on other sites — so people who never use Pinterest might be shown a different, less popular service because we know they’ve shared to it via our buttons before. Auto personalization boosts overall shares.

    Thanks,
    Julka
