confused newb

    i am tryign to install WordPress using fantastico and I keep getting this error message “mysql_connect(): Access denied for user” I am not sure what the problem is. i have MySQL and phpmyadmin installed.

    I would guess the username you are using is not the one mysql recognises.
    Find, from your host, the correct username.

    there should be no problem with instillation using fantastico. if it’s not working, i would recommend you installing it without fantastico. it really is an easy install

    When I used fantastico to install WordPress on my site it never asked for any information about MySQL Username. I imagine that Fantastico takes care of setting up the necessary resources automatically. Since you are getting this error, it is possible that Fantastico is not installed/configured properly.
    Contact your web host and they can probably resolve it.
