  • I just discovered that my gallery hedshot images are no longer linking to the URL for their bio pages. Could this be a result of a conflict? I just updated Yoast to the latest version.

    Hi Cais!

I’ve had a dialog with the Yoast team after that their config pages didn’t display correctly in my WordPress installation. Common troubleshooting, i.e. disabling all plugins and activating them again one by one gave us the conclusion that NextGEN is the object that conflicts with Yoast SEO.

    Welcome…

@lensv – How is this conflict manifesting itself on your site? We’re still going to need more context to know what/where to look for the issue.

    Thanks!

If you install Yoast SEO and have NexGEN active you won’t be able to open the installation Wizard in that plugin, just a blank page is displayed. 🙁

@lensv – I just installed Yoast SEO on a test site that has never had it installed and I am not seeing any issues with activation or starting the configuration process (wizard?) …

Well! That’s the behaviour in my case. I run WordPress 4.6.1 with the Suffusion theme.
One more thing… It’s a multisite environment. Could that be a causing factor?

@lensv – Multisite does add a certain amount of complexity to the troubleshooting aspects but I do not see it as being the most significant factor in this case.

Have you tried deactivating all of your plugins, clearing your browser cache (and site caches if you are using a caching plugin), then reactivating the NextGEN plugin?

If this fixes the problem then it was likely one of the deactivated plugins that was causing an issue. Now, retrace your steps activating each plugin and re-checking to see if the problem returns. If it does then that last activated plugin was probably the one. Keep reactivating and in most cases it is also best to keep checking after each plugin, sometimes there may be more than one plugin on a site that will create an issue. If you do find one (or more) plugins causing this problem we would greatly appreciate your feedback on them so the developers may address them as soon as they can.

Also to note, in rare cases it may be the theme itself that is causing a conflict so while you have just the NextGEN plugin activated you might consider temporarily switching to one of the default WordPress Twenty series themes and see if this corrects the issue as well.

If the problem still persists after all of this we would still want to know, even more so, as we will still want to sort out the issue and may need additional details.

    Thanks!

Cais! That’s the procedure that I followed when I came to the conclusion that it’s the NextGen plugin that prevents Yoast SEO from function correctly. The only thing that I haven’t tried is switching the theme… Can such a test cause any kind of complications for me (it makes me a bit nervous to leave all present settings in the Suffusion theme)?

    Plugin Contributor photocrati

    (@photocrati)

@lensv – To the best of my knowledge the Suffusion theme should keep its settings as is but if you are concerned about losing those settings it would be best for you to contact the Suffusion author and ask what will happen as your continue to troubleshoot this issue.

    Thanks!

Okay, now I have made some massive testings and it is definitely the NextGen plugin that stops Yoast from functioning normally. I have tried several of the native themes, but still each time that NextGen is activated the step-by-step Configuration Wizard in Yoast fails to load.

@lensv – Can you provide a step-by-step account of what you are doing and where exactly the Yoast SEO “wizard” stops working? We are not able to reproduce any issues and your specific steps may help with that.

    Thanks!

It doesn’t really matter if I remove all plugins or only NextGen itself. it’s the same behaviour how ever I do it. Each time I activate your software Yoast is affected.

If NextGen is off and I click the button “Open the configuration wizard” (on the General tab) 10 steps wizard is opened, but if NextGen is active there will just be an empty gray page.

I’d love to send you some screenshots, but this forum don’t seem to offer that service 🙁

@lensv – From that basic description, those are the steps I took to test the issue you described and all appeared to work fine as is with the Yoast SEO set up wizard.

    Thanks!

    – Cais.
