Conflict with error messages when redirecting the /register page

SETUP: Using the Membership plugin and I’m trying to redirect /register to register/?action=registeruser&subscription=1
PROBLEM: Creating a redirect on the register page causes error messages to not print any message.
Is there any way to fix this?
