Configure for Help from Staff, customization?

I’m new to WordPress and am trying to select a plug-in for chat. This one is well-used and highly rated with a good history of support and releases – all great. Any advice on:
1) whether it would be easy to configure Chat Now buttons on a few places on the site, require users to provide name and email before they entered the chat, and have a group of 1 – 3 staff notified someone wants help and allow them to connect, and
2) whether the code is GPL, since I want to modify the plugin so it archives every chat transcript in CiviCRM (this code will also be open source, either GPL or AGPL).
