Configure Dashboard for Non-Techy Client
Before recreating a client’s current html/tables website in WP, she used Adobe Contribute to easily make updates, changes, and additions to her website without having to constantly contact and pay the original web developer.
I’ve researched for a while now and have come across several really nice plug-ins to help me customize the Dashboard for my client for things such as: a) removing admin menus and sub-menus that aren’t relevant or not needed for the website maintenance they want to perform and b) Ease of use. Here are the ones I’m using currently:
AG Custom Admin
Together, those two take care of about 80 to 85% of what I’m looking for. However, I’m still in need of additional features for customizing the Dashboard. The main ones being …
– the ability to place certain menu or sub=menu items directly on the admin menu. (i.e. Sidebars / Widgets, plug-ins that place their settings menu item inside of an existing menu item)
– Show the widgets/sidebars directly on the Dashboard for ease of access for making quick changes.
– Easily change what shows up on the initial Dashboard welcome screen to be more relevant or beneficial to the client.
If there are any other things, plugins, etc. that you recommend to help me setup the Dashboard for a non tech savvy client is much appreciated.
