From the number of plugins available, it looks like creating a mobile version of your site should be fairly easy. A search for the terms WordPress for mobile gave me the following results (just to name a few):
WordPress Mobile Pack
WordPress Mobile Edition
WordPress Mobile by Mobify
MoFuse WordPress Plugin

What is the advantage of having a site for mobile devices? I thought my sites showed up anyway – or am I wrong?

The advantage is usability for your visitors. If people have a hard time viewing your site on smaller screens, they are less likely to visit your site when using a mobile device and also less likely to recommend your site to other potential visitors. These days, so many people are using mobile devices for a large part of their time online so it’s a good idea to have a site that’s easily viewable on mobile devices as well.
