    Hello –

I’m considering adding recurring subscriptions to a site that is set up for crowdfunding for a documentary project.

The site currently uses WooCommerce to accept one-time contributions and sell merchandise.

For checkout, the credit cards are handled by WooPayments, while PayPal/Venmo is handled by an alternate plugin (not made by WooCommerce), called “Payment Plugins for PayPal WooCommerce” by Payment Plugins:

For various reasons, I’d prefer to stick with this plugin rather than using the one that WooCommerce provides.

Does anyone have experience using Flexible Subscriptions with “Payment Plugins for PayPal WooCommerce”? Is it compatible? (I did search this forum but didn’t find anything specifically about this plugin.)

Thanks in advance for any advice.

    Hello,

Thank you for reaching out to us.

Although we haven’t specifically tested Payment Plugins for PayPal WooCommerce with Flexible Subscriptions, it should be compatible. So far, we haven’t received any reports about incompatibility between Flexible Subscriptions and that PayPal plugin.

Please note, however, that Flexible Subscriptions requires the payment gateway plugin to support secure tokenization (vaulting). This is necessary for recurring payments to be processed correctly.

I’d recommend testing this setup directly. The quickest way would be to create a test subscription product with a minimal amount, for example €1, set it to renew daily, and then check whether the renewal payment is charged automatically the next day. This should give you a clear confirmation of whether the payment gateway works correctly with recurring payments.

If you have any other questions or run into any issues, please let us know.

    Kind regards,
