    Hello,

I would like your advice on something regarding cloudflare and your plugin features.

Cloudflare suggested activating Argo for 5€ per month (https://blog.cloudflare.com/argo/).

And claim that I will get a 60% reduction in their cache miss rate and a faster loading time, TTFB, etc.

I might be interested to test it out if it significantly increases my performances on google pagespeed.

But with your fallback/full page cache features, will it work? Is it even relevant to activate it with your features?

Thanks in advance for your enlightenments!

    Best regards,

    Marco

    Hi @adskiller,
This plugin fully works with all Cloudflare features including Argo. In fact, I used to use it on my site. Recently disabled it. Please note that Argo Smart Routing only works within your origin server and Cloudflare server. Not the user device and Cloudflare server. For that, you need to use Cloudflare WARP+ (Checkout: https://1.1.1.1/)
The goal of Argo to use Smart Routing to reach to your origin server to pull the data.
    Hope this helps. 🙂

    Definitely helped 🙂

However, curious to know why you disabled it?

I have just contracted the plan for 5$/month to test it out see if it can get me a better score on google page speed and actually get me a faster website. For now, it hasn’t but I guess I’ll have to wait a bit before getting any result…

Cloudflare WARP+ is an app to install on our phone (for now) to browse on internet faster and more secured. Right?

2 questions related to your plugin:

    1. Why it doesn’t it cache fonts and svg :

    2. Your fallback feature which give us feature close or similar to cloudflare entreprise (full page cache) will it stand for long? I mean Cloudflare won’t get upset about it and find a way to prevent your plugin to do the amazing job it does?

Thanks again for your help and enlightenments 😉

    The Biggest best regards!

    Hi @adskiller,

However, curious to know why you disabled it?

Over the course of many months of testing, I personally found that for my use case Argo was just insanely expensive for the improvements it brings to the table. The way Argo works let’s say someone from Singapore requested my website. Now that user to talk with Cloudflare Singapore edge to get the content. Singapore CF edge might need to connect to my origin server in the USA to get some stuff. This is where Argo kicks in. The connection between CF Singapore Edge and my USA origin server will be smartly routed if the general internet network has any congestion. This also reduced my latency to the origin server around 40-70%. The speed difference is mostly visible when my origin servers are in the USA and people from Asia are visiting the site.

Anyways for this feature Argo charges $5/mo that covers 1GB of data transfer (cached + uncached content) and then 10 cents for each GB. Which is really expensive as Argo also count cached contents.

With Argo, though the connection between CF Edge servers and my origin server was faster at the end of the day when someone browsed the site on a browser, the speed difference wasn’t insanely significant. So, we did some math and came to the conclusion that the features and speed boost we are getting from Argo compared to what they are charging, just not worth it and better spending that money in some other optimization stuff.

Cloudflare WARP+ is an app to install on our phone (for now) to browse on internet faster and more secured. Right?

Cloudflare WARP is also available for desktop (still in beta) which you can get it from here: https://1.1.1.1/beta/
But you need to buy the WARP+ license using your phone app and then you can use the same license key in your system app.

    2. Your fallback feature which give us feature close or similar to cloudflare entreprise (full page cache) will it stand for long? I mean Cloudflare won’t get upset about it and find a way to prevent your plugin to do the amazing job it does?

I would highly recommend you to check out the FAQ tab in the plugin settings. There you will see what exactly is the fallback cache along with answers to many other questions. This plugin does not violate any Cloudflare policy or protocols. Cache Everything page rules are available in free plans and above. The problem is that it is really difficult to use that feature as Cloudflare won’t provide you a starting to manage that unless you are going with the Business plan. But you are always welcome to code your own steering. That’s what this plugin did. This plugin does not violate any Cloudflare policy whatsoever.
