Have you tried:
– deactivating all plugins to see if this resolves the problem. If this works, re-activate the plugins one by one until you find the problematic plugin(s).
– switching to the default theme to rule out any theme-specific problems.
– resetting the plugins folder by FTP or PhpMyAdmin. Sometimes, an apparently inactive plugin can still cause problems.
– re-uploading all files & folders – except the wp-content folder and wp-config.php & root .htaccess files – from a fresh download of WordPress. Make sure that you delete the old copies of files & folder before uploading the new ones.

I was wondering if anybody can help. Im not sure how long ive had the problem, but I am no longer notified of new comments with the orange circle and number. I also never get notifications in the bubble in the upper right next to me name.
Also, I have several bloggers who are of “author” status. When they click on comments in the sidebar, (then all comments) they don’t have the option to reply to comments. All of the comments for the site show up, but when they hover over they don’t have the option to reply. How can I change that?
