  • Click on the “Discussion” link under the “Settings” menu in the left sidebar of your admin page, and check the settings. In particular, make sure you have a check mark next to, “Allow people to post comments on new articles.”

It looks like your default theme is missing the single.php which show the comment box form which you need in order to post the comment in the first place. Re-upload your WordPress.
After re-upload, don’t forget to go to Settings > Discussion and configure comments.

would it be possible to add the single.php element to the existing version?

ok so i re-uploaded wordpress but now it won’t recognize the database, and just gives me this error:

    Error establishing a database connection

This either means that the username and password information in your wp-config.php file is incorrect or we can’t contact the database server at localhost. This could mean your host’s database server is down.

    * Are you sure you have the correct username and password?
    * Are you sure that you have typed the correct hostname?
    * Are you sure that the database server is running?

If you’re unsure what these terms mean you should probably contact your host. If you still need help you can always visit the WordPress Support Forums.

The following video may help you troubleshoot that error.

ok so someone from my host reset the database, and i now have access to wordpress again, but i still can’t post/see comments on the blog from the blog, and neither can anyone else, (url: http://bostonsnbows.com) and yes i made sure the “Allow people to post comments on new articles ” box was checked but its still not there. what exactly am i missing?

I’ve been searching through the forum and found several threads about how to get rid of comments, but i can’t find anything on how to get comments working properly, there is no option to leave comments on my blog, can someone please tell me how to fix this?

I see comments are all right now and your single.php in place. I posted test comment and it worked. just delete test comment at http://bostonsnbows.com/?p=1&cpage=1#comment-5.
