So these are my two questions then:
1.) What about Facebook? I know there is a way to get updates somehow.
2.) Any hope that Google+ will provide an API or the likes? Is there a suggested workaround for right now, like asking people to tag you (+you), for example? Any other ideas?

Two quick questions Brandon…
1.) How can we get notifications for Facebook comments that are made on the site? We have our Facebook app ID on the site, and we are successfully using the Facebook comments moderation tool (at developers.facebook.com/tools/comments), but how can we get notifications on Facebook itself, and/or via email?
2.) How can we get notifications when comments are made on our site via Google+?
