Comment from one user always disappears
-
I have been having the same problem for a couple of years now. I run self-hosted WordPress at http://www.robohara.com.
I have one specific commenter on my blog (my Uncle) whose comments never make it through to the site. This is what happens. Every time my Uncle responds to one of my posts with a comment, I get an e-mail stating that there is a comment is waiting for my approval. When I click on the links to approve his comment, I am taken to my blog and I see the message “Oops, no comment with this ID.”
I get lots of comments that I have to moderate in this way, and the links always work. It is only with this one single user that the comments seem to magically disappear! Under comments I have checked the Spam tab and the Delete tab and his comments don’t end up in either one. I can’t figure out what is happening to his specific comments. Again, everything else works fine for everybody else. Spam comments end up in the spam filter, normal comments make it through, and sketchy comments end up in the moderation queue, which I either spam or approve. It works for everybody else except this one single user.
I have searched my WordPress blacklist and there is nothing in there that matches his name, e-mail address, or IP address. I don’t think the WordPress blacklist is deleting his comments. My Uncle uses AOL, but I have another regular commenter who does as well and his comments appear just fine.
I run Akismet and lr2Spam. I have tried disabling lr2Spam and I still have the problem. I have not disabled Akismet and wouldn’t want to. I am running the latest version of both.
I did some basic sql queries and cannot find his comments anywhere. I did see some old sk2 (Spam Killer 2) tables which I removed, but I haven’t run sk2 since 2009 and the problem still occurs (it occurred today, in fact).
