Hello lindahomer, it says you must be logged in to post a comment. Is that how you have set it up ?
Kind regards
I believe it is set up that way. I was logged in though. I will double check. Had another admin member check and she couldn’t post a comment either.
Thank you! I unclicked “must be registered and logged in” and it allowed me to post. As owner of the blog, am I not registered? I always log in.
What is the difference between being registered and logged in?
If Users must be registered and logged in to comment, this provides control over the comments and security. Very little spam will come through because all the users when registering would be approved by the administrator.
Kind regards
Thank you! So if someone new makes a comment or posts it will go into the moderation que for approval, right? I don’t want to stop a new visitor from posting 🙂
I am trying to get more info on this from the support site. Hopefully I will get it all figured out. Thanks so much for your kindness 🙂
What I normally do is check the following
Anyone posts a comment
A comment is held for moderation
This will allow anyone to post a comment the comment will be held for moderation first. At the same time it can produce a lot of traffic which is great for SEO and page ranking.
However be aware that a lot of spam will also come through…..so you will have to have good spam plugins installed 🙂
Kind regards
Yes, I remember now. I had the same as you checked off until several weeks ago…I was so tired of all the spam! Thanks…I will check into some spam plugins.
Hi again, I thought I would share with you some anti spam plugins I use.
1) NoSpamNX
2) Anti Spam Bee
And this one is for security
1) Wordfence
2) Better WP Security
Kind regards
Thanks so much! I’ll check them out for sure 🙂
