    Hello All,

    I am new to WP and just read an article outlining differences between WP.com and WP.org.

    Thus far, I have been developing on what I believe is WP.com as the URL for my FREE (soon to upgrade) is a .com address. I am also on an iPad Pro using the WP iOS App.

    I would like to switch to WP.org.
    Is there anything I need to do to make this happen?

    Dashboard: Tools > Export

    then you can import data on new site using Tools>Import
    Media files will be downloaded from old sites in process of importing.

    But you cannot keep wordpress.com as part of site address. You have to register new domain.

    I sincerely appreciate it.

    When I Import, can I do this using the WP iOS App also?

    Additionally, will there be a section or area where I can choose .org or the .com?

    Is this how I choose the distinction between the two?

    sorry, i’m not sure about App features. But you can do this using almost any browser via WordPress dashboard.

    Step by step (short) guide:
    0. export WXR from old site.
    1. Find hosting provider
    2. Select and register domain name (your hosting provider may help you with this)
    3. Install WordPress (via hosting “One click” magic installer or by downloading release archive)
    4. Use Dashboard Tools>Import on new site

    Unfortunately, when I select to ‘Add A New Site’ so I can import the Exported WP site, I only have two options.

    First is to create a second WP site on the WP.com OR, using Jetpack.

    I cannot seem to locate a way to start a new WP site on WP.org

    Is there anything I am missing or overlooking?

    I would sincerely appreciate anyone’s advice on how to accomplish this.

    Sites on 3rd party hosting should install and connect Jetpack plugin in order to be used with App
