• When I checked into this site today, the colors had defaulted and the customizer would not save all corrections. For the most part they change when the customizer is open but then revert when I few the site.

    The left sidebar is supposed to be white, for example. The nav menu background as well.

  • You added something like this….to the Appearance> Edit CSS screen?

    .site-header {
    background-color:#ffffff;
    }
    #secondary {
    background-color:#ffffff;
    }
    .site:before {
    background-color:#ffffff;
    }

    Then Clicked on the “Save Stylesheet” button on the far right of the screen???

    No, nothing like that. Now none of the colors will stay saved. I can enter them and the preview page changes but when I save and close the customizer, the changes are not saved. When I open the customizer again, all the entries are blank.

    That’s weird. First… you are using WordPress.org, not the wordpress.com, correct?

    second…. (only on the .org) You DID save and let it process in full before closing the “Edit CSS” screen??

    or did I miss understand and you are in the theme customizer where it lets you pick a background color? (I see a light grey in that area on your site)

    I have my own account on Bluehost. I have a half dozen other sites that are working fine. This is the only one with a problem.

    I deleted the plugin and reinstalled. No change. I would delete the theme and start over but WordPress seems to have deleted that option.

    I turned off the Jetpack Custom CSS.

    All the other plugins are standard and the same as other sites. I’m baffled. I may have to change themes.

    it does seem odd.
    poking around a bit…. I think you can still delete the theme, it’s just a little hidden now.
    First change the site to a different activated theme, then click on the “Theme Details” when you hover over the Twenty Fourteen thumbnail….. Bottom right side is a red “Delete”. It doesn’t seem to show up if you’re actively using the theme, at lease it doesn’t for me.

    Have you tried restarting the Jetpack custom CSS, then do a copy and paste into the Edit CSS screen of the code I posted?

    If you save that stylesheet it should change everything to white…..
    I’ve done it for 3 sites…

    The bigger trick is making sure your text color is not white in those areas…. I’ll try and find that bit of code as well.

    The colors had been changed in the Styles customizer, not the CSS. I actually didn’t understand what you meant by the code you posted. NONE of the settings in Styles were working, not just the colors.

    I would change the settings. They would appear in the preview. I would save and close the customizer. The changes would disappear. When I opened the customizer again, they were gone. I’ve also installed and uninstalled everything. Turned off caches, etc.

    Sometimes other unrelated plugins will interfere with editing and saving, but I don’t have any thing unusual installed.

    I finally changed the theme, although it is working on other sites.

    Thank you for figuring out how to delete themes. I’ve tried many and now have to update them all when themes update. A bother not to be able to get rid of them.

    huh….. I don’t have a “Styles” customizer.
    Sucks that it’s glitchy for just one site for no apparent reason.
    Glad my poking around helped a little anyway.
