Cloze formatting

Hi – trying hard to get a cloze exercise formatted properly and failing; it keeps putting each space for answers onto a new line, but not in the preview. Have tried adding it in raw, and disabling all my plugins (no help). Any ideas if the line length if formatable? Very new to WordPress
