As an ssl certificate from Cloudflare should not be different from ‘normal’ certificates, the issue is most likely that the curl request which tries to retrieve the data is blocked somehow.
We use cloudflare ourselves, and the request is not blocked: the cert shows as valid. So cloudflare is not blocking it. This makes me think your hosting provider blocks the request. If you’re interested we can make a version with some logs that will allow us to view the response on the request. This might give us some insight into the issue.
Hi Rogier,
Thanks for that.
I just tried RSSSL on another server with Cloudflare, and it worked without any errors. So your thinking about the hosting provider rings true it seems.
I don’t mind about another version if it helps you. I do know that host where I am getting this error is likely not to do anything – and I am getting a full green padlock and SSL approval etc so the error only seems limited to the plugin backend dashboard?
@ontheroad I think this indeed confirms it’s the host blocking it, so I guess we won’t be able to do anything about that.
You’re right: the error just means it can’t confirm the certificate, not that there’s an error with the certificate as such. So you’re good, you can ignore this message.
