In a recent update, when I clone a page or post the newly cloned page automatically opens in Beaver Builder. Prior to this, cloning a page would leave you on the WordPress dashboard Pages screen, simply adding a new page called ‘Copy of <Page Name>’.

Am I able to revert back to the way this worked before? If so, how would I do that?

    Hi @tim15465233

Do you mean a recent update to the latest version of Beaver Builder v2.5.0.2?

Could you also check and confirm if you are using the latest version of Yoast Duplicate Post v4.1.2?

Just to clarify, in order to reproduce this, we would need to create a new post or page in Beaver Builder, and then ‘clone’ that post and page, it would then result in the newly cloned page being automatically opened in Beaver Builder?

v2.5 of Beaver Builder adds its own “duplicate” action link to pages/posts etc because *all* duplicate plugins will break pages with Beaver Builder layouts. This is because the layout data has to have unique ID’s for rows/modules etc and its stored in post meta, when a page is duplicated that meta is duplicated and now you dont have unique ID’s.

The Beaver Builder duplicate function obviously knows how to deal with this so you never get broken data.

    Hi,

So this ‘duplicate’ action link is an entirely new feature with Beaver Builder and not related at all to the Yoast Duplicate Post plugin?

Or do you mean that this new introduction from Beaver Builder is causing a conflict with the cloning feature in the Yoast Duplicate Post plugin?

    I never said either.

Beaver Builder has always had a duplicate function, but from within the builders UI.

Multitudes of plugins like your own, add duplicate links to everything in wp-admin including things that have BB layouts, or BB svaed templates, rows, modules etc and when people click those the layouts break beacuse these plugins just duplicate all post data and meta data.

In 2.5 we added our own duplicate action link nd removed the most common weve found to destroy BB layouts … but ONLY if the thing being duplicated is a page/post/etc thats been edited with BB. All others are left alone.

    Hi @pross

Thanks for providing this information. I’ll contact our developers and see what steps should be taken with the update to Beaver Builder v2.5.

Ah, that could be it then. We’d been using Duplicate Post since long before Yoast bought it and it always had the same functionality. It’d be great if Duplicate Post could figure out how to work along side the newer versions of Beaver Builder – or if Beaver Builder could duplicate a page, but not take us directly in to the editor.

Thanks for your help thus far.

    Hi,

Thanks for all of these details. It looks like Beaver Builder v2.5.1 will address the concern that @tim15465233 has regarding the expected behavior after cloning a post or page created with BB.

I’ve logged an internal issue for our developers for this update and interaction between Yoast Duplicate Post & Beaver Builder.

    Thanks!
