• I’m having an issue connecting the Chit Chats WordPress plugin to the Chit Chats API.

The plugin displays the following error:

    API connection failed
API returned an empty response. Please verify your API credentials.

I have verified the Production Client ID and Production Access Token directly against the credentials in my Chit Chats account, and the information entered in the plugin is correct.

Despite using the correct production credentials, the plugin continues to return an empty API response and will not establish the connection.

Could you please check whether there may be an issue with the plugin’s API integration, such as:

    • A change to the Chit Chats API endpoint or authentication requirements
    • The way the Client ID or Access Token is being passed
    • The plugin not properly handling the response returned by the API
    • A compatibility issue with the current Chit Chats API

Please let me know if there are any logs, debug information, or other details you would like me to provide to help diagnose the issue.

For security, I have not included the Client ID or Access Token publicly, but I can provide whatever information is required privately.

    Thank you.

Empty response can often mean that you need to accept new agreements within ChitChats. Please also note that due to constantly changing regulations they can simply have a temporary outtage.

What you can do is to extract API request from the debug log and contact ChitChats support asking to check.

You can also email developer of the plugin with your debug log and they might be able to provide some assistance.

Thanks for the information. I’m not sure where I’m supposed to check for any new Chit Chats agreements. Could you please let me know exactly where in the Chit Chats account these agreements would appear and where I would go to accept them?

Also, when you mention emailing the developer of the plugin, could you please provide their contact information or let me know where I can find it?

Lastly, could you point me to where I can access the plugin’s debug log and identify the API request you’re referring to? I’m happy to provide it to Chit Chats support, but I’m not sure where the plugin stores this information.

The API credentials have already been verified as correct, so I’d like to work through the other possible causes you mentioned.

You should be able to find a link to contact form in the settings of the plugin.
