• Hello,

I have a theme and plan on using it together with Elementor and WooCommerce, and other WooCommerce extensions and WP plugins. The theme itself will most probably get modifications and custom functionalities.

My question is – do I have to create a child theme for this?

I am seeing mixed tips on what to do and am a bit confused, as I’m not WP proficient.

Some are saying I need a child theme only if I’m going to do basic changes like CSS editing to the theme.

On the other hand, from what I understand, I can lose every customization I’ve made every time I update the theme.

    What do you recommend?

    Thank you.

  • Always create a child theme if you are going to be adding functionality to your functions file, adding custom css, or changing the behaviour or design of your site.
Just go ahead and do it – it’s never the wrong decision.
