Child theme for custom theme freezes admin
-
Our client of two years has a custom WP theme that is pretty good. But I wanted to create a child theme.
Somehow the custom theme created by another developer has a folder name in FTP that is one thing (“paul”) whereas it shows up in WP admin>themes as (“James”). The only way I could get admin to recognize my new child was to name it “paul-child” But when I try to activate I get “The site is experiencing technical difficulties. Please check your site admin email inbox for instructions.” The automated email specified the problem location as
https://example.com/wp-admin/themes.php?activated=trueThe only way to unfreeze this error message was to go into FTP and rename the new child theme. Any tips about navigating this theme name problem?
