Child theme after editing

Yes, it is possible but when the parent theme is updated your changes will be lost with the exception of those made in the child theme.

I’d recommend that you download the original theme again.
Create a new child theme from that copy and then move your customizations to the child theme from the currently modified parent theme.

It is a good idea to do it now because the changes you’ve made are fresh in your mind.
