Checkbox Icons not showing

When I select a different icon (tick or cross) for checkboxes in the ‘Design’ section of the plugin’s settings, I get a box instead of the icon on the frontend.
My theme (The7) uses Font Awesome 5 I have also selected Font Awesome 5 in the ‘Advanced’ section on the plugin’s settings.
What am I doing wrong?

It’s not live – I am working locally. I have fontawesome 5 loading in on the page.
