It can take a few days to change over.
Go into the wp-content/theme/themename folder and make sure there isn’t a favicon.ico file there.
Also check your main public_html folder.

Ugh!! I finally solved my issue, thankyou Elf man. Been battling to get my favicon to appear, thanks to your advice above I deleted all favicon references and tried again now it works. So simple, I feel stupid.
